David Bartholomae's quote "invent the university" means that you use what you learned at college in your real life. You are going to be in the real working world and when you are there in order to make a different you need to invent ideas and thoughts and then incorporate them into your everyday working life. Youre not learning something you are thinking of something or Inventing"something! This is a competative world.

In my concurrance, I agree for what you stated so far, however if you 'think and invent' as what you stated in your last line, I believe you are still "inventing", but if you have an idea and don't use it such as, applying the material to the real world you will never get far, or brining forth your elevator pitch.
