Response for Wednesday

My career field is law. Specifically I want to go into corporate law. Within this field, people are very assertive. I will have to provide my reasoning and understanding of the law with regards to different cases. Assertiveness is a large part of this. One has to be strong in his or her opinion and willing to fight to get his or her point heard. There is no room for distance from one's own beliefs in law.

thats true, that was my choice to before i changed to insurance claims, i was going to go into corporate law, i was even scheduled to take the LSAT last month before i canceled it. being a lawyer i think emphasizes being assertive more than anything, because you have to know your stuff in order to persuade others to think like you.

I do agree with your assertiveness, however I think that it is also important to be deferential in the work force as well. For example, when there is a person who needs your help (whether if that particular feels distressed since they feel are being discrimitive to discussing contractual obligations that the company might have breached.)

I believe the first rule about being a lawyer is understanding the pain of your client(s) so that you can help them out as best as you can. If you are a corporate lawyer and if you are really deference to the company you represent you can receive special treatments that only Corporate Officers may receive. For example, free dining services from Trump Tower for being their personal lawyer.
